Owing to the compounds with boiling points above 200℃were purged from the water matrix with lower efficiencies in the EPA M524.2, we optimized the purge time, purge velocity and cooling temperature to 19min, 70ml/min and -130℃through designing the second perpendicular test. After optimizing, the mean recovery efficiency of the compounds with boiling points above 200℃was increased 3.53%, total mean recovery efficiency was increased 4.87%, and the method detect limit accorded with the request of EPA. The optimized method has determinated the VOCs in water of Guanting Reservoir.Metal elements concentration of the Guanting reservoir was studied totally by water sample analysis in low-flow period and high-flow period through the ICP-MS. Although the contained arsenic levels were considerable high, the water quality of Guanting reservoir was gradually fine, and the contamination of heavy metal was low-degree.For knowing the water quality of concentrative drinking water resource and surface water resource in Beijing, we analyzed the samples from Miyun reservoir, Jingmi channel, Guanting reservoir and Shisanling reservoir at May,2007(rainless season) and August,2007(rainfall season) respectively. The monitoring results of routine parameter, VOCs and heavy metal showed that the water quality of Miyun reservoir and Shisanling reservoir was well, and accorded with the request of drinking water resource; the part of Guanting reservoir and Jingmi channel was polluted, and had not function of drinking water resource.
