PolyePoxysuccinic acid is acknowledged green water treatment agent and new alternative in the world. It appears in recent years and its property of scale inhibition has been studied much more than other properties of PESA, and there is little research about its derivative. It is the first time that the copolymer of epoxysuccinic acid and acrylic acid has been studied. It is been studied the relation between condition of copolymerization and its properties such as scale inhibition and dispersion inhibition. Though the test method -NMR and IR the copolymer's construction is get.The effect of each reactant's mass to copolymer's inhibition is studied by orthogonal test. The sequence of significance is: epoxysuccinic acid >acrylic acid > potassium peroxydisulfate, and their optimal use level is: Epoxysuccinic acid: acrylic acid is 5:6(mass ratio); the use level of potassium peroxydisulfate is 3.5% of the total amount of the two monomers.Time of copolymerization,Temperature and the PH of the reacting system are studied that how they influences the scale inhibition of copolymer as the most important inspection factor. When the time of copolymerization is 4 hours, the calcium ion stable density is 219mg/L, which is not getting better with the time's extension. When the Temperature of copolymerization is 90℃-95℃, the calcium ion stable density is 223mg/L. Scale inhibition is not getting better whether the Temperature too high or too low. When the PH of the reacting system is 13, the calcium ion stable density is about 221mg/L.So the condition of copolymerization is determined: Time of copolymerization is 4 hours; Temperature is 90℃-95℃; the PH of the reacting system is 13.The Molecular weight range is determined by Euler viscometer, which is 1500-2000. The copolymer's construction is get though the test method-NMR and IR, which isDispersion inhibition is also studied by Turbidity and Spectrophotometric method, and the optimal quantity is get. The experimental result indicates that the copolymer has some Dispersion inhibition. The Dispersion inhibition is best when the mass of copolymer is 2.3%, and the absorbance is 58%.
