Energy and environment are the two major themes of the 21st century. Methane catalytic combustion is efficient and clean, which can gain high efficient energy conversion and utilization and low emission of pollutions, and therefore is a promising way to solve the problems in energy and environment. In this paper, a series of Pd-based methane combustion catalysts are prepared by impregnation using the incipient wetness technique, in whichγ-Al2O3 is used and several rare earth elements, such as La,Ce,Y,Sm,Eu and Gd, are doped as the support materials. And the catalytic activity for methane combustion are tested by using stable flowing method. The impacts of different Pd loads,Pd precursors, promoters and calcination temperatures on the methane combustion activities of the prepared catalysts are also studied respectively. Tested the stability of two typical catalysts 2Pd/γ-Al2O3 (500℃) and 2Pd/γ-Al2O3 (1000℃).The results indicated that these series of Pd-based catalysts have remarkable activity and stability for methane combustion, and the doping of rare earth elements can improve the activity and /or stability.
