In the papermaking processes, basis weight is a fundamental property of paper requiring precise control for quality of production. Because of user's improvement of the quality requirement of the paper and control on cost of the manufacturer correctly, cross-directional control of paper is being paid close attention to more and more, it is also one of the most complicated control targets in the papermaking processes. Because of changes in raw materials and the complicated pulping process prior to the paper machines, variations will undoubtedly exist in the formed paper sheet. The controlling problem on paper machines has become more difficult, with the increase in sheet width and machine speed. The generalized predictive controlled (GPC) can consider various conditions in optimization to restrain, and have very good robustness and interference rejection as other predictive controlling method. So compared with conventional control, the GPC can realize development control better. On the other hand, GPC adopts controlled auto-regressive integrated moving average (CARIMA) model and its control law including integral action. So the GPC can automatically eliminate the deviation of stable state of control. The text researched GPC and use matlab to imitate the GPC, then through analysing the chart it can chose the best date.Through neural network destroying the coupling, the using GPC to control the system. It used matlab to imitate them.
