Based on the investigation of the severe entrainment phenomenon in the purified gas from ammonia flue gas desulfurization system, the plan of using a self-designed mist eliminator which is called Straight-Flow Cyclone Tube with Guide Vanes to remove the entrainment in the outlet flue gas from the desulfurization tower is made in this article. On the basis of high separating efficiency being guaranteed, technical analysis and cold model experiment have been done with the consideration of pressure drop, and the reasonable geometric sizes are selected.The experiment results show that the Straight-Flow Cyclone Tube with Guide Vanes is of simple equipment, good demisting effect, low pressure drop, flexible and convenient operation and so on, and the integrated aim of higher effective demisting and the deamination is realized. At the same time air pollution will be controlled and the air can be purified.On the basis of small experiment in the laboratory, together with the results of theory analysis, the optimal structure parameters are determined: blade number is 20, angle of blade elevation is 25°, the height for gas-liquid separation is 760mm, the insertion depth of exhaust tube is 140mm. With these structural parameters, the pressure drop of the device is lower, and ammonia content at the exit tube is under 35ppm, the demisting efficiency of 98.6% can be reached.Under the same condition, the compared results in the laboratory showed that the Straight-Flow Cyclone Tube with Guide Vanes is 7.3% higher in demisting efficiency and 358Pa smaller in pressure drop than the initially used cyclone separator.At last, referring to prior designing knowledge and an established.correlation formula for the pressure drop of cyclone separator, a prediction model of Straight-Flow Cyclone Tube with Guide Vanes is established based on theoretical analysis. Relative error of the calculated value and the measured value is basically less than 10%, so the prediction model can be used for the enlarged design of gas-liquid separator, and the amplification effect is small, so it can satisfy the demand in industrial application.
