Friction welding is an advanced welding technology that is used widely in the aviation industry of the world.Because of the fine equaled grains in the weld and the strength higher than the base metal, this process can improve the performance, the life-span and security of the engine. This thesis investigates the materials welding performance of the low pressure turbine rotor(K24) and shaft(1Cr11Ni2W2MoVA).The original process is diffusion welding, because of some reasons, our company use friction welding instead of it.The thesis investigates the feasibility of friction welding replacing diffusion welding, and discusses the direct driving friction welding test and study process in detail. This thesis analyzes the questions such as designing joint configuration, fixture distribution and process parameters. Considerable tensile tests showed that the mechanical properties of the friction welded joints were slightly better than that in diffusion welded joints. The results indicate that friction welding can be used to joint the different materials K24 and 1Cr11Ni2W2MoVA. This thesis find out the proper weld upset(≥6mm) by a large number tests for welding different material(K24 and 1Cr11Ni2W2MoVA),and establish friction welding quality verify standard for the turbine and shaft.During little batch production process,"unfilled zone" was found out when the parts were sample inspected. This thesis analyzes that what causes it happen and improved joint configuration. At last, these questions were resolved and the parameters were optimized, and found out effective way to control the weld flash getting large. The optimum parameters of friction welding of the two different materials are determined through mentioned experiments.Applied work in friction welding meet with industrial production.
