As a fast-drying solvent with excellent solubility, ethyl acetate can be used to prepare various solvent type adhesives, applied in spices and paints industry as a solvent, and can be used as an important raw material in organic synthesis. The thesis introduces the basic physicochemical property and common synthetic method of ethyl acetate, and sets out the current situation of its application, as well as the domestic and international trend of development. This article introduces the technique to synthesize ethyl acetate with solid acid as catalyst in the process of batch reactive distillation in details.Subjected to the restriction of thermodynamics balance in a lot of important chemical reactions, the raw material has a low conversion. In order to improve the yield, the separation of equilibrium products and the cycle of the reactants must be included in the preparation process. Coupling reaction and distillation process in one reactor can simplify reaction process; suppress the adverse reaction, and promote a positive response thus to increase the conversion in the process and to make full use of reaction heat. This technique, which can help save energy and increase efficiency, is wildly used in the industry.This thesis aimed at the research on batch reactive distillation to synthesize ethyl acetate with solid acid as catalyst, namely, the process with solid acid used as catalyst and acetic acid and ethanol as raw materials in which the catalyzed synthesis of ethyl acetate is accomplished in catalytic distillation column. It is a new attempt to synthesize ethyl acetate through catalytic distillation, and also provides a good reference for the synthesis of other esters.The effect of reflux ratio, ratio of alcohol to acid and catalyst amount and other parameters on catalytic distillation process are analyzed respectively. By analyzing the experimental data, the optimum conditions are obtained―the amount of catalyst: acid is 1:100; the best reflux ratio is 1:1; the best ratio of alcohol to acid is 2:1. At the same time, based on this process condition, several kinds of solid acid catalysts are compared and cation resin is decided as catalyst.
