The blade in this paper refers to the workpart of a propeller, water/stream turbine or engine. It is widely applied in some basic industries like aeronautics, power generation, traffic and hydraulic transportation. Blades have some common characters including consisting of free-form surfaces, difficulty in modeling, and generating motivate by dielectric flowing. Besides, in order to meet complex processes and higher accuracy requirement, blades usually need to be manufactured by multi-axis NC tools. In the social actives of production and consume, it is the ma-in resource waster and source of noise pollution The machining quality of it directly influences the economic profit, environment and efficiency of resources utilizing. Therefore, for improving economic development, controlling pollution and utilizing resources efficiently, it's important and necessary to research and apply the technology of NC machining of blade. The paper, which is supported by"The National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program)",aims to do some research and application on some key technologies of NC machining on blade in order to improve surface precision, minimize the concussion impact, enhance the part service life, lower noise and so on.First of all, this paper analyses the causes of noise generation and efficiency infection in theory. In this paper, the flow characteristics of the working surface are studied, and the distribution and direction of the fluids that flow over it are analyzed. And from it, the idea of the tool path plan is established and tool points and interference and collision detection are analyzed.Besides, post-processing plays a important role in 5-axis NC machining of free-form surface. In this paper, a algorithm of machine motion that is acceptable for general structure serial machine tool is analyzed. By studying the motion constructures of XKH-series 5-axis blade machining center, the algorithm was successfully applied to the machine. Based on the algorithm ,a postprocessing software system is developed.At last, with the help of BMEI.Co.Ltd, a serial of experiments and trial cuts was implemented in the field. Continuant experiments'results indicate that the practice contour is coordinated with the theory one and the algorithm is correct. In addition, the software has some good characters such as friendly interfaces, convenient operation and good stability. BMEI has applied the system to practical machining and give a high appraise.
