Tube inversion is a new process which can make double-walled or multi-walled tubes without welding lines on simple dies, it is an advanced plastic forming technology with low consumption,good flexibility,high efficiency and high forming precision, the tubes produced by this process is widely used in aviation,motorcars and other industrial areas. Till now, there are two types of tube inversion: axial compressive tube inversion process and axial drawing tube inversion process. This paper did a comprehensive analysis of tube inversion process by means of numerical simulation and experimental study, because of the bad quality of inverted tubes for axial compressive tube inversion process and the problem of overmuch procedures for axial drawing tube inversion process, put forward a boosted tube inversion process, which accelerated the development of tube inversion process. The main contents of this paper are as follows:①Introduced the application areas,classification and the study state both in home and abroad of the tube inversion process.②Analyzed the traditional tube inversion process, expatiated the characteristics of axial compressive tube inversion process and axial drawing tube inversion process,the effect of the main parameters on tube inversion, and the common format of collapse during the forming process.③A new boosted tube inversion process has been put forward, by means of FEM simulation with DEFORM-2D, determined the law of the effect of die radius,the diameter and the velocity of boosted block,frication and parameters of material on the tube inversion process.④Experiment was carried out, which validated the results of FEM simulation and the superiority of the boosted tube inversion process. Generalized the law of the forming load─displacement curve.⑤Summarized the problems occurred during the forming process, it's helpful for optimization of both the process and the device.The study results of this paper accelerated the development of tube inversion process.
