In the realm of supramolecular chemistry, great interest has recently been focused on the crystal engineering of coordination frameworks by using of the principles of self-assembly, which represents one of current research interests in chemistry and biology areas. Recently, it is demonstrated that rational design and considerate selecting special organic structure through appropriative approach of assembly should to be the key in constructing target polymers and which is a stubborn challenging work for scientists. In this research, five novel complexes of transition metals based on imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenathroline polydentate aminopolycarboxylate ligand in variety conditions have been prepared. They are [Cu2(μ-Cl)2(IP)2·Cl2]·4H2O (1),[Cu(IP)(bta)0.5 (H2O)]n (2),[Mn2(IP)2(H2bta)2(H2O)]n (3),[Zn(IP)(bta)0.5]n (4),[Cd(IP)(bta)0.5·H2O]n (5)(IP=imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenathroline, H4bta=1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid) which have been determined by the X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis, elemental analysis, IR spectra, fluorescence spectroscopy, thermal analysis. The results revealed that the conformation and potential coordination sites of the ligands play an important role in the structures of complexes. Meanwiles, complexes of 6 and 7 were synthesized by copper salts or chromium salts with 5, 5'-Methylenedisalicylic acid. Their thermochemical characteristics were discussed in this paper. The constant-volume combustion energies Act/ for the solidcomplexes were determined by a RBC-Ⅱtype precision rotating-bomb calorimeter at 298.15K. The standerd molar enthalpies of combustionΔcHmθand standard molar enthalpies offormationΔfHmθwere calculated for these complexes, respectively.
