Mulberry bark fiber is a kind of new natural fiber, and its eco-friendly characteristics are drawing more and more attentions. This thesis aims to research the morphological structure, aggregate structure and mechanical properties of natural mulberry bark fiber. By the use of digital optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM), the author observes and researches the surface of the longitudinal and cross section of the mulberry bark fiber; and by the use of modern mechanical testing and analyzing methods like infrared spectrometer, X-ray diffractometer, polarizing microscope and thermal analyzer and so on, the author also makes research on the inner structure of the mulberry bark fiber. Through experiments, the author studies the mechanical properties of the mulberry bark fiber in the standard and hygrometric state, and makes contrast analyses on the law of the changes about the structure and the mechanical properties in different concentration of NaOH solutions and heat treatments in different temperatures, and further explores the intrinsic factors on the changes of the mechanical properties of the mulberry bark fiber. All these researches contribute to the important effects to the spinning machining and products applying in different external conditions. Therefore this thesis serves to provide some theoretical basis to the commercial process and product development of the mulberry bark fiber.
