The corona discharge reactor utilizes high-voltage corona discharge to produce large amount of droxyl radicals and ozone. Droxyl radicals can react lively with dyestuff, destroy the color system and aromatic nucleus, and generate colorless organic acid, aldehyde and so on, even degrade dyestuff into CO2 and H2O, and finally achieve the goal of decolorization and dyestuff degradation.Take acid scarlet GR and reactive brilliant red K-2DP as target pollutants. Relationship between the decolorization rate and COD removal rate was investigate, and the influence of discharge voltage, acid scarlet GR and reactive brilliant red K-2DP concentration and pH on the decolourization of acid scarlet dyestuff and reactive brilliant red K-2DP was also investigated. The results indicated that decolourization of acid scarlet GR and reactive brilliant red K-2DP by corona discharge fit first-order kinetics under our experiment conditions.High voltage corona discharge could be utilized as pre-treatment for actual dyestuff wastewater. The results indicated that chrominance, turbidity and COD removal rate is 92.5%, 83.3%, 52.6% upon corona discharge for 90 min, corona voltage is equal to 29kV. It basically meets requirements of pre-treatment, so it could combinated with the conventional biochemistry and coagulation treatment, and be utilized as the pre-treatment for dye wastewater. The results also indicated that high efficiency for nonbiodegradable and toxic organic substances in coking wastewater were found upon corona discharge. It is a new pre-treatment for coking wastewater that can provide the coking wastewater with very important reference value.The research shows that·OH which is produced by high voltage corona discharge can oxidize without choice different organic pollutants. The process has many advantages in treatment of dyeing wastewater, such as high efficiency and without secondary pollution. High voltage corona technology has a good application prospect.
