The Preparation Of Mg, Al-Hydrotalcite Whisker

Magnesium,Aluminium-Hydrotalcite (Mg,Al-Hydrotalcite) is a novel kind of inorg- nic flame-retardant, which is non-halogen, non-toxic, non-volatilization, higher stability and environmental protection. If Mg,Al-Hydrotalcite whisker can be prepared, it would have the properties of flame-retardant and reinforcement at the same time.In this dissertation, Mg,Al-Hydrotalcite whisker is prepared by two-steps method, the first step is to prepare basic magnesium chloride whisker, the second step is to prepare Mg,Al-Hydrotalcite whisker. Basic magnesium chloride is prepared by water bath method and direct ultrasonic method separately. The influence of water bath tempe- rature, the concentration of NaOH solution, having or not having CaCl2, the change of raw material concentration and different process are discussed in this paper. The samples are analysed using XRD and SEM. Because there are magnesium hydroxide crystal contained in the samples, so the electronic structure and optical properties of Mg(OH)2 are calculated by pseudo potential plane-wave method which is based on the density functional theory. It will provide some reference for further optimizing the Mg,Al hydrotalcite whisker's process and it's application.
