| Prepared electrophoretic particles, surface modification, confect electrophoretic suspension and the application performances in electrophoretic display were discussed in this paper.Using soap-free emulsion polymerization and depositing of tetra-n-butyl titanate, the polymer/TiO2 complex hollow particles was obtained. The results showed that the size of the particles was about 260nm. The Zeta in tetrachloroethylene was -1.18 mV. The hollow TiO nano-particles were made by sintering of the polymer/TiO2 particles in ammonia at 800℃by 3h. The size of the particles was about 20~300 nm. The Zeta in tetrachloroethylene was -20.39 mV. Sintering the polymer/TiO2 particles in argon at 800℃by 3h can obtained the C/TiO2 particles.The use of different types of material on the effects of modification was studied. The result showed that the best method is first use the SB570. Then use styrene and vinylbenzene. The particle we got was lipophilic degree for 28.57%,52.59% rate of coated and density of 1.81 g/cm3.ζpotential for -24.83 mV the particle size is 460 nm.Use the TiO as display particles and polymer/TiO2 complex hollow particles as background particles, tetrachoroethylene as a dispersion medium, Span80 as a stabilizing agent, T151 as a charge control agents, we can got electrophoretic suspension through the milling, the display prepared by this electrophoretic suspension have clear black and white contrast. The electrophoretic of particles can be observed by the microscope which prepared by this electrophoretic suspension (E=30V/mm).The particles size and structure prepared during each step were characterized by AFM, TEM, optical microscope, IR and TGA. |
