Flying gauge change (FGC) is the key technology of full continuous tandem cold mill (TCM). And the rolling data is one of the most important factors influencing strip thickness and flatness. Therefore, researches on the rolling data preset of FGC in TCM is vital important to increase its yield and improve its product quality, etc.In this thesis, it is focused on studying the rolling data preset of FGC in TCM, and two methods for improving the precision of the rolling data preset are presented, by analyzing and studying current technique of FGC in full continuous tandem cold mill of BX Steel POSCO Cold Rolled Sheet Co.,Ltd. The main works are as follows.First, the process of FGC in TCM is briefly explained so that the questions and their demands could be clearly understood.Second, a method improving the precision of rolling data preset is established by means of the adaptive learning models of deformation resistance and friction which are the most important factors influencing rolling data. The backward calculation models of deformation resistance and friction are based on actual rolling data and actual forward slip in order to improve the rolling data model calculation accuracy.Third, a method combining the neural networks with mathematical models is proposed to improve the precision of rolling data preset. The Hamming neural network is used to solve the concrete problem oriented to rolling data error between the measured value and the predicted value about mathematical model. By simulating with MATLAB language, the Hamming network combined with mathematical models realizes a high precision preset of the rolling data in TCM-FGC.
