Oxidation-delamination wear is one of main failure modes for the application of 3Cr2W8V hot-forging dies. It's wear resistance directly affects the service life of 3Cr2W8V hot-forging dies. The influences of the microstructures on wear resistance were studied in the 3Cr2W8V hot-forging die steels. The mechanism of high-temperature oxidation wear was explored. The influences of heat treatments like quenching and tempering,on the microstructures of 3Cr2W8V is studied by utilizing the OM,and other modern technologies like SEM,etc. The results show that microstructures play important role in wear resistance of 3Cr2W8V hot-forging die steel.Banite and martensite-banite have higher wear resistance, compared with martensite. It is also found that the high-temperature wear resistance of tempered troostite is superior to tempered martensite and tempered sorbite.During high-temperature wear, oxide films and oxide granules are found to form on the worn surfaces. The oxides are composed of Fe3O4and Fe2O3,wear deris of 3Cr2W8V hot-die steel is mixture of Fe3O4,Fe2O3 and Fe.High-temperature wear mechanism of 3Cr2W8V hot-die steel is oxidation wear and fatigue desquarmation wear.It is found that there are two types of oxide-film delamination patterns:one is delamination in oxide film or at interface between oxide film and steel, which corresponds to mild oxidation wear;the other is delamination from the inner of steel matrix, which classified as severe wear.
