The formation of the C–S bond is indispensable in synthetic chemistry. Their importance stems from the prevalence of this bond in many pharmaceutical compounds and from the utility of aryl sulfides as intermediates in organic synthesis. The traditional methods for the formation of C–S bond require harsh reaction conditions. To overcome these difficulties, considerable attention has been focused on the development of transition metal-catalyzed coupling of thiols with aryl halides. The cross-coupling of aryl halides with thiols catalyzed by some transitional metals had larger prevalence and has been developed widely. In comparison with Pd and Ni, Cu is a cheaper metal with lower-toxicity and copper-catalyzed cross coupling has received considerable attention in recent years. To make the proceeding method more simpler and milder, many efficient ligands including the O,O-,N,N-types and no ligand were applied in this catalytic system.
