Polymerizable surfactants in emulsion polymerization,which contain a polymerizable group,can be bound covalently to the surface of latex particles,and then adverse effects caused by conventional surfactants can be avoided.By using polymerizable surfactants,the stability of the latex and water resistance of the film can be improved.Sulfonate monoalkylpolyoxyethylene fumaroyl taurine polymerizable surfactants(series G) are synthesized by using alkyl polyethylene oxide,maleic anhydride and N-methyl taurine. The performance and stability of the emulsion of series G in the polymerization system containing fluorine monomers are studied,and obtained well emulsifying properties and high monomer conversion rate and the latex particles size dispersion of a single distribution. Compared with traditional emulsifier SDS,series G markedly improved the emulsion stability and electrolyte storage stability,but not the film of water-resistance and freeze-thaw stability. Water resistance,alkali-resistant and stain-resistant performance index have reached(or better than) the China National Standard,when they are applied in the paint.The polymerizable emulsifier D3 and nonylphenol ethoxylates(NP-10) were remixed, and their performance and stability of the emulsion polymerization system containing fluorine monomers are researched.The monomer conversion rate is high and the latex particles size dispersion is of a single distribution.Emulsion stability of the electrolyte,freeze-thaw stability,storage stability and water resistance are superior to SDS;water resistance, alkali-resistant and stain-resistant properties to the basic state requirements which being applied in the paint.Compared the series G polymerizable emulsifier with complex formulation of polymerization emulsifier D3 and nonylphenol ethoxylates(NP-10),the applications results show that their emulsion capacity and latex properties are enhanced,resistant electrolyte stability of series G is better than complex applications',when it comes to freeze-thaw stability and water resistance of the film,D3 and the NP-10 complex is better.They are used in the coatings,series G is superior to D3 and NP-10 complex products,and better than the China National Standard.
