Recycle of non-ferrous metal solid waste has received increasingly attention in the area of resources and environment. However, there are few research reported on the monitoring technology of solid waste. In this thesis, copper smelter-rich solid waste was chosen as the reference sample. It was pre-treated with routine digestion, results indicated that there was great difference between the results.Based on this, microwave digestion technique for sample pre-treatment of solid waste was investigated.Through a large number of preliminary experiments and orthogonal experiment, impact factors on microwave digestion were generally analyzed and the key factors were determined.According to the determined condition, samples were first digested and then copper content was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Finally, feasibility of microwave digestion was determined by compared with the results obtained from method of optimized routine wet digestion. The main conclusions of this thesis are listed as follows:(1) A new approach to monitor solid waste was established, which is microwave digestion.(2) Through a large number of preliminary experiments and orthogonal experiment, the optimum sample volume, digestion reagents and microwave digestion procedures was determined.(3) Impact factors on microwave digestion were generally analyzed and key factors were determined to be volume of the sample and digestion temperature factors.(4) Compared to the results obtained from conventional wet digestion, there was no significant difference between the two approaches, thus, microwave digestion method can replace the conventional wet digestion especially for large quantities of sample digestions.(5) Microwave digestion technology for the pretreatment of solid waste samples, greatly improved the speed of digestion, saved acid amount, reduced acid mist to the staff and the environment, improved working conditions and reduced the labor intensity and improved the work efficiency. This method has a certain superiority and is worthy of promotion.
