| The slope stability is an important study object of geotechnical engineering all the time, and it relates to artificial and natural fields such an mining engineering, civil engineering, railway and highway engineering, hydrological and hydroelectric engineering ,waste residue and garbage management engineering, hillside riverside, etc. With the fast development of domestic economy, the construction is on the increase. The slope disaster will be more and more serious, the involved slopes extend from simple soil slope to complex high rock slope, so the research of rock slope stability will be more and more significative.This paper studied the slope of Jinbeizhuang open-pit, following the research route as investigation-laboratory test-establishment of calculation model-stability analysis of rock slope. In order to evaluate the stability of the slope, rock mechanics parameters derived from laboratory test firstly were optimized by empirical formula.This essay studied the open pit located in jinbeizhuang iron mine of Xuanhua. Detailed studies are made as follows: searching the key internal factors which can affects slope stability. According to the geological data which was gained by exploration investigation, establishing a geological model which can reflect rock mass characteristics,massive analysis are carried out on the data collected, through the scene investigation study. Simultaneously, the indoor physical mechanics nature experiment is carried out on many kinds of rocks gathered from the scene, and some method is used in the data project processing of experimental results. Consequently, it obtains the strength index closer to the rock engineering reality, causing the analysis results to accord with the actual situation.With analyzing the internal and exterior factors synthetically, the deformation and possible failure mechanism and mode of the cut slopes was confirmed which combines with stereoic projection and other techniques.The software of UDEC is used to simulate the different situations. Through the simulation we can get the reason of the landslide disaster. It is useful to us for taking reasonable steps to repair it.
