| Adding Rare Earth can significantly improve the service life of stainless steel. In recent years, Rare Earth has been used widely in stainless steel. The research about the mechanism of rare earth affected on the stainless steel has received extensive attention. At present, many research results show that: the main mechanism of rare earth affected on the stainless steel are purification, controlling the shape of inclusion , micro-alloying, refining grains and so on. This article has studied that the amounts of rare earth and different solution treatment temperatures affect the mechanical performances and organizational structures of stainless steel, the Rare Earth can strengthen stainless steel and improve anti-corrosive performance of stainless steel. The main results are as follows:(1) Adding Rare Earth from 0.01% to 0.03% to stainless steel can improve toughness and plasticity, accompanied by a decline in intensity and hardness.(2) For 0.02% Rare Earth, in order to obtain the best comprehensive mechanical properties of stainless steel ,the best solution treatment temperature is about 1050℃.(3) Adding Rare Earth to stainless steel can change the shape, size and distribution of fracture dimples , at the same time the deformation mechanism has been changed.The sample not added Rare Earth depends upon the twin crystals to distort, the motion of dislocation is limited. While the microstructure of rare-earth stainless steel shows the twin crystals feature with sub-structure, therefore the plasticity is good.(4) Adding Rare Earth to stainless steel can reduce the amount of inclusion ,change the shape of inclusions from the strip to a particle, decrease the cracks and the pores on the edge in the continuous casting , cut down the possibility of scrap chopper for hot rolled strip ,so that the rolling performance of stainless steel can be improved.(5) Rare Earth can enhance the anti-corrosive performance of stainless steel. |
