The mixing and reaction of two kinds of liquid were used commonly in chemical processes. The yield of product, the purity of product and energy-consumed have been obviously influenced by liquid-liquid mixing process, so research on new techniques and new reactor is very important.The multiphase spray nozzle is a new reactor which is suited to be used in liquid-liquid instantaneous reactions. The mixing characteristics of multiphase spraying nozzle was studied by using the methods of graphic analysis and the iodide-iodate parallel competing reactions system under different conditions, such as the two-liquid flow rate, the carrier gas flow rate, H+ concentration, two-liquid flow ratio, etc.In the first part of the paper, the quality of spray mixing was measured using the extensive PH indicator paper. The distribution of color droplets on PH paper was explored by using the graphic analysis software under different conditions. The results showed that it was conducive for spray developing and mixing to increase the carrier gas flow rate or decrease the liquids flow rate. The advantage of graphic analysis was very visual and intuitionistic. In the second part of the paper, the classical KI-KIO3 parallel competition reaction system has been used to evaluate the micro mixing quality for further study on micro mixing of multiphase spray nozzle. The results indicate that it's more conducive for micro mixing to increase gas flow rate at a certain liquid flow rate. When the gas/liquid flow ratio is increased, good mixing effect can be acquired. And it's advantageous for micro mixing to use lower feeding ratio, and the nozzle possessed good micro mixing performance with highα(=VA/VB).Also, the micro mixing of the single gas channel nozzle was compared with the double gas channel nozzle. The results showed that it was more advantageous to adjust the gas flow for the central gas channel and the outer annular gas channel than one gas channel.According to the energy dissipation theory of the atomization nozzle and the micro mixing theory, the correlation of Xs with Vg and Vl was derived and simulated with the experimental data. The results showedthat the Xs increased linearly with (Vl/Vg3)1/2 increasing and the line slope increased with a increasing.
