Polyalpha-olefin can be obtained from alpha-olefin which is oligomerized by catalysis. Polyalpha-olefin is a kind of excellent base oil of lubricant with good properties of low solidifying point, high viscosity index and good chemical and thermal stability. Both Ziegler-Natta catalyst and metallocene catalyst are highly-efficient catalysts to polymerize olefin. In this paper, with the intention of synthesizing base oil of lubricant with good performance, we systematically studied oligomerization of 1-decene with MgCl2-supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst and constrained geometry metallocene catalyst containing cyclopentadienyl-phenoxyl system, 2-Me4Cp-4,6-tBu2-PhOTiCl2/Al(iBu)3/Ph3C+B(C6F5) 4-.oligomerization of 1-decene with MgCl2-supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst system showed that the catalyst system coincided with fundamental laws of polyolefin Ziegler-Natta catalyst. Polymerization reaction conditions containing temperature and Al/Ti mole ratio et al. have much effects on activity of oligomerization and molecular-weight of product.Oligomerization of 1-decene with metallocene catalyst system, which is comprised of constrained geometry metallocene catalyst containing cyclopentadienyl-phenoxyl, alkylaluminium and boride, was studied systematically. The effects of feed sequence of reagent, reaction temperature, Al/Ti mole ratio, B/Ti mole ratio and oligomerization temperature on activity of oligomerization and molecular-weight of product were detailedly investigated. Mechanism for formation of cationic active center, the formation and interrelation of different cationic species and mechanism for polymerization of 1-decene were analyzed. The oligomer obtained was characterized with GC, IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR methods. Solidifying point, molecular-weight and viscosity of product were determined according to National Standards of Test Method To Petroleum And Petroleum Products. The studies showed that oligomer of 1-decene catalyzed by metallocene catalyst system containing cyclopentadienyl-phenoxyl was a kind of base oil of lubricant with excellent properties of low solidifying point(-62℃), kinematic viscosity of 1750 mm2/s and 192 mm2/s at 40℃and 100℃, high viscosity index(238) and a moderate average molecular weight(620).
