Since the discovery of conducting polyacetylene at the end of 1970s by Heeger, MacDiarmid and Shirakawa, conducting polymer has aroused wide interest. Although their structure and physicochemical properties still pose a number of fundamental problems, conducting polymers are at present intensively studied in view of their multiple potential technological applications extending from bulk utilizations such as antistatic coatings to sophisticated molecular devices such as selective modified electrodes, sensors, flexible large area organic displays, electronic paper, artificial muscle, polymer microactuators, DNA -compatible materials. The essential structural characteristic of conducting polymers is their conjugatedπsystem extending over a large number of recurrent monomer units. And they include a rich scope of polymers such as polypyrrole, polyaniline, polythiophene, polybenzene and many of their substituents.Therefore, it will have quite important scientific significance to research on synthesis of the conducting polymers .In this paper, we study the conjugated polySchiff base ,it is a novel conducting polymer.Several dione and diamine intermediates were synthesized, and through condensation reaction between them and other diamine and dione raw materials, a dozen novel conjugated polyschiff bases were synthesized. More than 10 kinds of cross-linked conjugated polyschiff were synthesized using the conjugated polyschiff bases with the melamine which was as a cross linker. The structures of conjugated polyschiff bases are characterized by IR,UV-Vis absorption spectra and Fluorescence spectroscopy. The conjugate-polyschiff 's bases , intrinsic and iodine-doped electric conductivity were determined and their Energy gap ,Stokes'shift and fluorescence quantum yield were analyzed. The results showed that the doped conjugated polyschiff,bases have the advantages of large Stokes shift and high fluorescence quantum yield .
