The occurrence and mining condition in steep seam are much more complex than what they are in gently inclined seam. In the process of exploiting steep seam, the real production will be greatly affected by the destabilization of roadway. In order to ensure the full development of the full-mechanized caving mining with horizontal sections in steep coal-seam, we are in urgent need to do research on techniques of roadway support.On analysing the real supporting conditions of steep coal-seams in Urumchi and researching into its coal samples'fundamental mechanical properties, then through triaxial compression tests in MTS-AE(acoustic emission) Lab, this paper put forward an evaluating indicator, which can be used to evaluate the supporting effect, as well as a predicting function, which is about the AE-energe rate's Weibull regularities of distribution. Both of them are based on the theories of AE-energy. On utilizing the large solid physical analog simulation device, this paper completes the analyses of AE Laws and the characteristics of internal lesion distortion and surface dislocation changes. The AE Laws, which are under the environment of dynamic loading, are about the top coal of the above roadway and about the surrounding rock's traumata and evolution. The paper also reveals the characteristics and inherent laws of roadway surrounding rock, from its micro rupture inoculation till macro destroy. In the author's point of view, the roadway surrounding rock will still possess a sound carrying capacity after reaching its peak stress, despite there is a decrease. The relative stability of surrounding rock will still be kept if the supporting manners could be adjusted in time. After analyzing the validity of supporting schemes with FLAC3D , the paper draws a natral conclusion that the combination of bolting wire mesh is the most effective way to support the roadway of steep coal-seam in Urumchi.The paper will play an important role in controlling the full-mechanized caving mining with horizontal sections in steep seam both at home and abroad.
