A new parameter L is proposed to measure glass forming ability of bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) based on the analysis of the correlation between structure and properties of the oxide-glass and Zr-based, Ti-based, Cu-based, RE-based BMGs which contain three or more elements. The new criteria L only correlates to the intrinsic properties of the alloys. According to the calculated results of the typical BMGs, it shows that:â‘ the most likely formation area of BMGs is conservatively restricted in 0.43 |
