The plate products are widely used in many fields such as pipeline of petroleum and natural gas, shipping, bridge, container, boiler, oceanic component, construction and so on. Therefore, study on plate rolling is very important. In this article, plate rolling has also been simulated by FEM software. Its achievement is theoretically significant and practically valuable to design the optimal rolling process.Based on the thermal conveying law, by using the finite difference method, a mathematical model predicting the temperature variation during plate rolling has been built in which effects of various factors on temperature change are taken into consideration in detail. The temperature model which meets the manufacture requirement takes into account those effects such as convection, radiation, heat exchange, high pressure water, the contact between the plate and the roller, the plastic work. Set up a new temperature model, Changing the previous formula, a new spread model which is better for width calculation is established.Based on the finite-difference rolling force model, taking into account the characteristics of the large length and the deformation resistance variation of deformation zone of the plate rolling, we need to breakdown the differential units of rolling deformation zone and calculate different deformation resistance of rolling deformation zone in order to raise the accuracy of plate rolling force. Applying MATLAB software, the author developed a simulation software system, which is intuitive and simple to operation. It can show variable parameters such as temperature, width, rolling force and rolling moment during plate rolling.By using three-dimensional finite element soft-DEFORM, plate rolling is simulated. After validation, the simulation system is proved to be accurate and valuable to formulate reasonable rolling process in the production.
