Ammonia nitrogen is one of major pollution of water bodies; it is harmful to the natural environment and human body, while industrial wastewater is the main source of ammonia nitrogen in water. At present in China, ammonia nitrogen wastewater treatment, especially for high strength ammonia wastewater cost-effective treatment, is still a problem; therefore, the study of its treatment technology is of great practical significance.In this paper, based on extensive literature research, combined with examples of pharmaceutical companies wastewater treatment, in the light of the characteristics of production process for the TMP, ammonia at high concentrations and large quantity of wastewater discharge, considered the enterprises actual bearing capacity of operating costs, developed a heat-based integrated TMP high strength ammonia wastewater treatment technology.First of all we measured the content of ammonia nitrogen in wastewater is 6750mg/L, pH value is 8.0, Stripping experiments indicate that in order to make ammonia-nitrogen removal rate more than 90%, the wastewaters PH should be adjusted to about 11. Secondly, through systematic process simulation and optimization to high strength ammonia nitrogen wastewater treatment process, studied the stripping process, the number of theoretical plates, feed location, amount of vapor, operating pressure, water inlet temperature and the influence of other process parameters to ammonia nitrogen content in the drainage, ammonia nitrogen removal rate and by-product of ammonia concentration, then obtained the optimal process parameters. Last according to simulation results, through the initial analysis of the overall energy in the process, designed heat integration of wastewater treatment process flow, the annual cost savings than the traditional craft utility project is 3,600,000yuan, at the same time made the technical process of engineering design and techno-economic analysis. The actual data in the industrial application indicate that the average ammonia-nitrogen removal rate had achieved 92.3%, realized the need for industrial design. Research results and industrial applications show that:pretreat the TMP high strength ammonia wastewater by adjust pH value, and then treat it through heat-based integrated stripping process, in this way it can not only remove the high concentration of ammonia nitrogen in waste water cost-effectively, but also recover part of the TMP, at the same time by-product industrial ammonia.
