In the past twenty years, the research of carbon nanomaterials had drawn a lot of attention of scientific researcher. Carbon nanomaterials are new kind of nano-materials composed of carbon atoms, which have a lot of extraordinary properties and potential applications, therefore, they have been the hot subject of physics, chemistry, materials science. Carbon nanofibers, carbon nanotubes have been widely used. So, the synthesis and application of carbon nanomaterials has been an important subject. In this thesis, various carbon nanomaterials were synthesized by CVD method using Cu/Zn based nano-composites as catalysts, including bamboo shaped carbon nanotubes, multiporous carbon nanofibers, multi-walled carbon nanotubes. TEM, SEM, Raman, EDS and some other characterization methods were used to characterize the carbon nanotubes and carbon nanofibers, also, the electrochemical workstation.were used to test their electrochemical behaviors. It is found that the molten state of the nano-catalysts is essential for the formation of these two kinds of carbon materials. The ratio of Zn and Cu is also a key factor that determines the morphology of those products. Owing to their unique morphology and special structure, these synthesized carbon nano-matearials are suitable for many nanometer-sized devices, electrode devices, and they have fascinating potential applications in the near future.
