The as-cast Al-10Mg and Al-10Mg-0.2La (Mg, La, wt.%) alloys were prepared, and we had the good extruded bar and extruded sheet through extrusion deformation. By metallographic microscopic analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, tensile mechanical performance analysis, hardness analysis, fracture scanning analysis, corrosion and abrasion performance analysis, it has researched that microstructures and mechanical properties of the alloys of extrusion deformation.The results showed that: after solution treatment and extrusion deformation along the grain boundary distribution of the majority ofβ-phase has dissolved to theα-Al matrix. Extruded alloy after deformation obviously refined grains, and the virtual elimination of as-cast alloy left shrinkage, mechanical properties are significantly improved. At room temperature Brinell hardness (HB) of extruded alloys were over 80.The tensile strength of cast alloys 280MPa, while the tensile strength of extruded alloys were 350~390MPa, increased by about 25~39%, it showed that the alloys of extrusion deformation had a higher strength. Compared with the as-cast alloys, the yield strength of extruded alloys was about 190MPa, increased by about 14%, it showed that extruded alloys had excellent toughness. Extrusion and deformation had obviously improved the elongation rate of alloys, it showed that extruded alloys had excellent plastic property. The addition of rare-earth element La on mechanical properties of alloys is not obvious. Alloys fracture surface analysis indicated that the fracture mode of as-cast alloys were mainly brittle fracture, while the fracture mode of the extruded alloys were ductile-brittle mixed mode fracture. In addition, the alloys of extrusion deformation had a good corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance.
