As an important technology of optimization product quality and high-efficiency con-casting, soft reduction technology has became one of the core technologies in the development of high-efficiency con-casting. Soft reduction technology was considered by international continuous casting workers as the third generation continuous casting technology. Study, develop and use of high-efficiency con-casting has great theoretical value and applied prospects in the field that reform of traditional continuous caster and design of now continuous caster.Soft reduction technology was originated in the 20th century in the later 1970s and early 1980s.It is developed on the basis of reducing gap technology. During the development of continuous casting,static soft reduction technology and dynamic soft reduction technology come about at serial. They were widespread used because of their own characteristics. However, it is still in the underway phase, because of the complexity and particularity of soft reduction technology itself. And it engender many problems which are waiting for solve in practice application, it is necessary for us to research hardly on the mechanism of the soft reductions, and to probe.In this research, two dimensional heat transfer model was built to simulate the solidification process, then the finite difference method was used to disperse the heat transfer equation by MSC. Marc. Through the measured data about the temperatures on the surface and the thickness of the solid shell in the factory, we testified the accuracy and the reliability of the model. The position of freezing end-point can be determined by the transfer model. On this basis, the influences on the temperature on the surface, the thickness of the solid shell and the position of the solidification terminal come from the processing parameters such as the casting speed and the pouring temperature were calculated and analyzed. Then slab were calculated by means of thermal mechanically coupled method. With this method, the stress distribution in slab soft on soft reduction process was identified. It provides the theory basis for the avoidance of various defects in slab.
