Rolling mill chatter is a chronic problem on the development of steel around the world. As the continuous improvement of industrial technology and the product quality requirements of users, rolling equipment continues to improve on the direction of larger-scale, higher speed,more automatic and higher-precision. Rolling mill chatter becomes a major factor restricting this development. The subject refers to the elastic foundation beam method which solved rolls system deformation.In this paper, the rolls are taken as elastic continuous bodies,and the research are done on rolls transverse vibration.Firstly, take rolls as two-beam system connected by Winkler elastic foundation base on the similarity of rolls and beam.The beam is isotropic.The rolls transverse vibration model are built based on Timoshenko beam, then mechanical analysis of infinitesimal element of the roller body are made in order to solve kinematical equation of rolls.Secondly, the transverse free vibration of rolls were solved based on the kinematical equation of rolls, and vibration curve of transverse free vibration of rolls were calculated under certain initial conditions. The results showed vibration curve were consistent with initial conditions,thus, the model is correct.Then, Solve dynamic rolling force which is equal to excited force during stable rolling in external disturbances.Finally, vibration curve of transverse forced vibration of rolls were solved based on principle of virtual work and modal superposition method. Lay the foundation for the development of shape control online.
