The shape is one of the important quality index of the strip, which is more important to the quality in producing super lamella metal and foil material(such as the colored soft metals including Copper and Aluminum etc). Shape meter is the important equipment in the cold rolling production line. Its working result has great effect on the surface quality of the cold-strip steel.At present, most shape meters used in cold rolling line are contact shape meters, which has some drawbacks. In order to develop non-contact shape measurement, so the object that study the shape measurement have practical meaning.This study proposes an application of pulsed eddy current in the shape measurement. First, paper introduces the basic concepts of shape,and shape detection of the status quo at home and abroad. Second, analyzes the pulsed eddy current impedance model in detail, improves simulation of pulsed eddy current method of calculating, and carries out thickness,ranging simulation. Finally, emphasizly derivaes the function of the shape and horizontal thickness difference, the shape and amplitude. And carries out based on the pulsed eddy current technology, two kinds of plate-shaped detection. That is, place array pulsed eddy current probe in the horizontal strip. Through the thickness, or the amplitude measurement, calculates the shape of all the points,and reflect the overall strip shape. Subsequent data processing and analysis of experimental results, verifies the feasibility of the two detection methods.
