Closed impeller is a kind of representation of complex surface parts.The design of the working surface relates to several subjects,such as aerodynamics,fluid mechanics and so on,so machining methods,machining accuracy and machining quality of the surface have large effects on performance.In this paper,with closed impeller geometric modeling and CNC machining background,deep study the closed impeller modeling techniques,and closed impeller NC tool path planning,tool axis to determine the key technologies,give a more comprehensive description of the closed impeller NC.1.Based on the theory of B-spline curve,UG software assisted in the completion of a closed impeller three-dimensional solid modeling,which is the basis of NC.2.According to the structure feature of the closed impeller,develop a suitable process plan for the closed impeller.Give a method of an efficient cutting tool-plunge cutter for roughing and a strong ability to adapt machining tool-ball end cutter for finishing in closed impeller machining.3.According to the closed impeller machining process plan,give the method to determine workability and divide region for the closed impeller.According to the drilling process for roughing,give the method to find the initial hole,and determine the location of the initial hole.4.Give the method of dividing section and building the transition curve,construct the gradual transition surface from the initial hole to the flow boudary surface,make tool along the transition surface layer machining.5.For the proposed tool path planning method,give the method to determine the non-interference scope of tool axis.Propose the use of the tool axis control mode of tilting in the surface mode,by constructing constraint surface,deterrnine the interference-free tool axis.6.Research on feed and anti-feed patterns,tool path patterns and shift patterns in tool path planning for closed impeller machining.7.Post-processing for dual table 5-axis NC machine is given. Carry on the NC machining simulation in UG for the method of tool path generation.The method has been proved available.
