Recent years, with the rapid development of people's living standard, clothes warmth, durability and comfortability are no longer the first and most important elements that consumers consider during their purchase. Some sensory qualities of clothes, such as shape and wearing experience, are determining people's choices. This thesis is aimed to use some sensory evaluation techiniques to discuss the formability of suiting fabrics, hoping to be helpful to the suiting formability design and evaluation during practical production. This thesis mainly consists of four parts. In the first part, some knowledge about the sensory evaluation of clothes materials were introduced, including the evaluation methods, the main ideas and techniques of sensory evaluation, and some critical problems. The second part is about the acquisition and analysis of the objective data of suitings. For this part, some fabric testing devices such as KES-FB and FAST were used to obtain physical properties of a large amout of suitings. PCA was applied to reduce the demensions of the discussed data space. Based on this, the structure of the initial sample collection was optimized by applying the conjunctive algorithm of subtractive clustering and HCM.The third part is about the sensory analysis of the formability of suitings. In this part, sensory experiments of both the formability and the handle of suitings were carried out according to standardized procedures. FCE was used to model the fuzzy relationship between fabric handle and formability, based on which, GA were applied to seek a near-optimal distribution amongst the handle attributes according to their impact on the suiting formability. The forth part is about the prediction of the formabilityof suitings. Based on the FNN theory, the prediction model of the suiting formability was established using ANFIS. Finally, based on the previous research, the parametric distribution of the high-formability fabrics were summarized and depicted on a construction data chart to provide convenient reference for practical application.
