The progress in synthesis of 3-alkylindole derivatives from indoles was reviewed in recent five years. The synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes andβ-indolylalcohols were improved by ultrasound irradiation, simultaneity, a new fluorescent thermosensitive polymer possessing bis(indolyl)methanyl was synthesized.β-indolylalcohols were synthesized via the reaction of indole with 2,3-epoxyl-1,3-diaryl-1-propanone catalyzede by K10-ZnCl2 under ultrasound irradiation. Synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes via the reaction of indole with aromatic and ketones catalyzed by ABS in aqueous solution was carried out under unltrasound irradiation. Our procedure is characterized by mild conditions, short reaction time, high yield. A new water-soluble polymer of indole (indole-PNIPAAm) possessingbis(indolyl)methanyl was synthesized via six steps and the synthesis of intermediate of the polymer was improved by ultrasound irradiation. Characterization of indole-PNIPAAm by UV and fluorescence spectrophotometry measurements revealed that it was excellent in both temperature-sensitive and fluorescence properties and the response is reversible.
