Clathrate hydrates have long been a serious problem in the oil and gas industry. When hydrate particles occur in a pipeline, they are likely to agglomerate together to form hydrate blockages to obstruct pipe flow. In order to prevent the hydrate plugs, many methods are used to research hydrate inhibitor and anti-agglomerates in laboratory. the trend of the future requirements is more visual and microscopic study. In this paper, the micro-manipulation and imaging system which is the first set in domestic are used to research the crystal growth, and adhesion force between the hydrate particles of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) hydrate .The microscope and imaging system, which is Carl Zeiss Axio Observer.A1 inverted microscope as the main equipment, was established, including image acquisition and processing system; temperature control system; hydrate temperature response system.TBAB hydrate and THF hydrate morphology was observed. At 9℃, the mass fraction of 40% TBAB hydrate crystal formed by tetragonous, hexagonousand octagonous column,and the growth rate was 0.26um / s. And THF hydrate crystal linear growth rate at 1℃, -1℃and - 2℃were measured, as well as the growth rate of THF added graphene and PVP. It was found that PVP destructed THF crystal structure and inhibited THF crystal growth, and 200ppm graphene promoted THF crystal growth.Adhesion force of TBAB and THF hydrate particles are measured respectively.For example a diameter of 0.1mm metal wire was used as the cantilever material. TBAB hydrate particle adhesion was about 7E-5N in isooctane with the particle diameter was 650~730um, at 278.35K, the contact force was 48uN, contact time was 10min.Meanwhile, TBAB hydrate was found that the adhesion force of hydrates was directly proportional to the contact force and contact time, and increased with temperature. Adhesion force of THF hydrate particles was also measured, and found that poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone (PVP) can't decrease the adhesion force, but Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) can decrease adhesion force between THF hydrate particles. And the adhesion force changed from 0.03N / m down to 0.005N / m, the optimum concentration of PVA is 0.16%.
