Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride(CPVC) was modified by physical blending.Processability and toughness was improved. Mechanical properties, processability, heatresistance and thermal stability was studied and CPVC with excellent comprehensiveproperties was prepared.Toughness was improved by adding CPE, NBR, MBS, impact strength with 30 phrMBS raised from 2.7kJ/m2 to 49kJ/m2, but tensile and flexual strength was decreased bymodifier. Toughness could not be improved by rigid particles.Flexual modulus was improvedby inorganic rigid particles and raised from 3.432GPa to 4.490GPa with 40 phr CaCO3.Synergistic effect was found by adding elastomer together with rigid particle. Toughness wasimproved by elastomer while strength was improved by rigid particles. Impact strength ofCPVC with 15 phr NBR and 10phr ABS was 66.5kJ/m2 while CPVC with 15 phr NBR and15phr CaCO3 was 44.2kJ/m2.Processability was improved by adding DOP or ACR. DOP and ACR was beneficial toplasticize CPVC and decrease torque. Equilibrium torque dropped to 3.8N·m whileplasticizing time 0.32 min shorten by adding 20 phr ACR. NBR was beneficial to decrease thetorque but prolong plasticizing time. Processability was a little improved by PVC and ABSwhile inorganic rigid particle(CaCO3,MMT) made it worse. Maximum torque increased15.3N·m and equilibrium torque increased 6.1N·m ,when 20 phr MMT was added.Heat resistance was decreased by adding organic modifier. Vicat softening temperatureof CPVC was 49 lowere℃d with 30 phr NBR added. Heat resistance was improved byinorganic rigid particle. Vicat softening temperature was 9.7℃higher with 30 phr CaCO3added and 15.8℃higher with 30 phr MMT added. Thermal stability was improved byinorganic rigid particle. Thermal stable time was 20min prolonged by adding 30 phr CaCO3and 27.5min prolonged by adding 30 phr MMT.
