The Research Of High Density Wood-based Panel Made By Thin Wood Shavings

Since the "Natural Forestry Protection Project" implemented, facing to the shortage of large diameter logs in China, now we need to develop wood-based panel products urgently which were made of "slab, small timber, fuel wood" and "Three Residual Materials". But how to achieve the goal of using sustainable resources effectively is the practical problem in front of the wood-based panel industry. From the status of domestic and international wood-based panel development, combined with the application of micro-nano processing technology, this paper focus on the research of high-density particleboard made by thin wood shavings.The micron-cutting theory from the microscopic view was revealed. The processing methods of thin wood shavings and the optimal shaving size were identified. Several factors, such as hot-pressing temperature, glue content, board density on properties by orthogonal test method were explored. The results showed that the optimum conditions are glue content-12%, hot-pressing temperature-155 "C and product density-088g/cm3. All physical and mechanical properties of the board met the requirements of particleboard standard of China (GB/T4897.3—2003).The effects of particle shape and blank structure on board properties were also studied in this paper. The variation of the internal temperature in hot process of different wood species, blank structures, board densities were analysed. At last the SEM was used to observe the surface of thin wood shaving and the internal structure of the board.On the whole, the high-density particleboard made by thin wood shavings has the advantages of densified surface, natural wood qualities and strong load-bearing capacity compared with the traditional MDF and particleboard. The birth of this board will expand the scope of particleboard application, with its distinct characteristics, the panel will have a place in the future wood-based panel market.
