Red mud is industrial waste in the process of producing alumina,it destroy seriously environment, and it is harmful to people's life.The comprehensive utilization of red mud is very important to the development of country.This work has focused on the use of red mud,, and summarizes the methods of the red mud at home and abroad in recent years, and points out the problem of using red mud.In this paper, the work focuson the preparation sintered red mud baick, and uses iron, magnesium, calcium and aluminum to prepare doped barium ferrite by microemulsion method.and analys the phase and morphology of samples by X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and testes magnetic Properties by Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM).Red mud is the main raw material, clay and Laiyang soil is auxiliary materials, and sintered red mud bricks are preparede by plastic molding method.we analysis the effects of additives, sintering temperature on physical properties of sintered brick .The results show that When the content of clay is 20% ,the bricks with complety size,in line with national MU20 standard can be got.To study the impact of the sintering temperature of red mud brick . When the clay content of 20%, sintering temperature is 1020℃can get red mud bricin line with national standards in line with national MU20. When the amount of Laiyang soil is 10%, the sintering temperature is 1020℃, we can get red mud brick in line with national MU20 standard.Red mud is raw materials, adding a certain amount of barium carbonate, iron oxide and boric acid, After melting at 1300℃, the cooling water quenching to obtain barium ferrite glass-ceramic. After the heat treatment, barium ferrite can be got with low magnetic properties and large coercive force.Iron nitrate and barium nitrate are raw materials,barium ferrite with 50-80nm and the shape of hexagonal plate were prepared by microemulsion method, the test results showed that water bath temperature is 40℃, and oil phase volume ratio with water is 6:1, cosurfactant and surfactant molar ratio is 2:1, while the barium iron ratio is 10:1, the best magnetic properties of materials can be got. barium ferrite saturation magnetization is 47.41emu / g, remanent magnetization is 29.01emu / g, coercivity is 1909Oe, particle size is 50-80nm barium ferrite.Using magnesium, calcium, aluminum, strontium instead barium and iron ions in barium ferrite, the results show that when barium ion is insteaded by other elements,these elements radius are bigger,and the more easily to replace,and the more easy to maintain magnetoplumbite type hexagonal crystal structure. With the increasing of calcium doping, saturation magnetization of samples decreases and the coercive force first increase and then decrease. When barium is replaced by strontium ion ,there is little change in the magnetic properties of materials; when the iron ion is replaced by aluminum ions, the coercivity of the material first incresses and then decreases, while the saturation magnetization decrease very significantly.
