The question of job sequencing is the core in production plan and the major content of production scheduling in production operation management. The question of job sequencing would appear when different kinds of tasks should be performed. The role of job sequencing is more and more important in production organization operations in panel furniture enterprises.The paper mainly analyses the production operation system and organization form of panel furniture enterprises, ascertains the production styles and the characteristics of manufacturing operations, then combines the current condition of production operation management in panel furniture enterprises in our country. The article classifies the operation job sequencing in workshop into sequencing among working procedure and sequencing within working procedure. The article focuses the research on the n parts produced on m machines and the static, determined, single objective, n×3 flow shop scheduling which contains parallel machines. The article fully considers and takes the advantage of the homogeneity or the similarity of the job processing, and applies the group technology before job sequencing, then uses the scientific optimization methods and heuristic algorithm to seek the minimum of the total processing flow time of the parts production task and separately research the job sequencing among groups and job sequencing within groups of the processing during production and organization process of the panel furniture parts.By taking the example validation on some panel furniture enterprise, there is 27! different kinds of job sequencing on production tasks of 27 parts. It is an enormous number. For the job sequencing among groups, CDS heuristic algorithm, key work piece method, Palmer heuristic algorithm, and Gupta heuristic algorithm are used, and then they are compared with the real processing order and the random processing order selected randomly which are obtained in production experience in terms of maximum flow time and equipment utilization. For the job sequencing within groups, SPT and LPT optimization methods are used to get the production order, and then the order is compared with the processing order and the random processing order by experience in terms of maximum flow time. The Gantt chart is obtained as an output of the parts production sequencing. It shows that the optimized job sequencing can shorten flow time of the parts greatly and enhance equipment utilization and productivity. By the example verified, the research is of practical value to use the optimization methods to proceed the production sequencing in many practical situations in panel furniture enterprises.
