The No.4 coal seam average thickness of Dafosi coal mine is 14.8m, the overlying rock stratum Yi-jun and Luo-he sandstone group are regional aquifer, the thickness is larger, the water-abundance is better and the permeability is stronger. When the fully-mechanized caving mining technology is used, the height of water flowing fractured zone is also increased, the roof water-inrush become endangering production safety to the first-mining face. Thus the study on the rule of overlying strata failure and water-inrush mechanism has a great practical significance and certain theoretical value.Roof water inrush is a complicated process of geology and mechanics, it concerned with the style, character and conservation of water bodies, and with hydrogeologics, stratum structure and geological mining conditions of roof water resisting layer. Research start from the overlaying strata and regional aquifer characters such as number and positions and so on, the key stratum and roof water resisting layer positions and seepage property of different rock strata are determinanted and the developing rule of water flowing fractured zone in mining and influencing factors are got, the results offers the foundation and contidion for learning water incrush.Rely on the provincial key lab of ground controlling of Xi'an University of Science and Technology, the material and the mixture of material which can meet liquid-solid coupling experiment is got, and the sample's physical and mechanical parameters is analyzed. Combined solid similar simulation with liquid-solid coupling experiment, studied Dafosi coal mining geology condition and complemented the different research means, the overlying strata during mining rock mass migration principle, crack extension principle and water migration principle are analyzed. By using Element Code method, the rule of overlying strata failure beneath aquifer is studied, the deformation and failure and movement characteristic of overlying strata during mining is analyzed, and the result of numerical simulation is compared with physical simulation. Based on the integrated research to water-inrush catastrophe mechanism, the control measure of roof water-inrush is proposed, there is certain reference value to the project practice in its result.
