Water-borne exterior paint of container with both good application property and better anti-corrosive performances were prepared, which included double-component water-borne epoxy zinc-rich primer and one-component water-borne acrylic/polyurethane surface paint. And different influencing factors about the application property and anti-corrosive performance of the system were discussed in detail in this paper. This paper was consisted of two parts.The first part was the preparation of double-component water-borne zinc-rich epoxy primer. The factors such as different types of waterborne epoxy resin systems, types of water-borne epoxy curing agents, ratio of water-borne epoxy resins, the different amount of zinc powder, different kinds of pigments and fillers, different types of the solvents and anti-sediment agents on the properties of coating were discussed. The factors influenced the properties of coatings were characterized by FTIR, SEM and the test of main routine properties. The results show that: the optimal film forming material was relatively high molecular weight bisphenol A water-borne epoxy resin C and amine adduct curing agent c; when the mass ratio of water-borne epoxy resin was 20%, the anti-corrosive properties of coating were excellent; when the ratio of lamellar zinc was 50%,the anti-corrosive properties of coatings were excellent; when the ratio of solvent b and c was 2:1,the touched drying time was quick and the property of the coating was optimal; the system had the best cost performance when the white carbon black was chosen as the anti-deposit agent.The second part was the preparation of water-borne exterior surface paint. The factors such as types of water-borne emulsion, types and dosage of dispersers, types of pigments, PVC, types of deformers, nano-slurry on the properties of coating were discussed. The factors influenced the properties of coatings were characterized by LS13320 laser particle diameter analyzer, SEM and the test of main routine properties. The results show that: the coating had the best comprehensive properties when the ratio of styrene-acrylic1 to polyurethane emulsion was 1:2; when the mass ratio of disperser D was 0.6%, the system was the most stable and the performance was optimal; when PVC was 30%,the comprehensive properties of coatings were excellent; when the homemade nano-slurry was 0.5%, the system had the best properties as the slurry can improve the properties of coatings. The paper also discussed on calculation methods of solid content in volume, which can help to calculate the thickness and the formula design of the container coatings. Double-component water-borne epoxy zinc-rich primer and water-borne top coat with both good mechanical properties and better anti-corrosion performance were prepared, and the prospective performance index was reached which can satisfy the application demands.
