| Citrus as one of the species of Rutaceae is widely distributed in China, it is one of the biggest yield of fruit in the world. The peels of citrus as byproduct contain many functional components. From the deep and systemic research of the hygienical effect of Citrus peel extracts can solve the problems of resource waste and promote the development of Chinese functional food.The Citrus reticulata cv.Unshiu and Citrus aurantium were used as raw materials. Crude water extract of Citrus reticulata cv. Unshiu (A), crude 95% aqueous-ethanol extract of Citrus reticulata cv. Unshiu (B), crude water extract of Citrus aurantium (C) and crude 95% aqueous-ethanol extract of Citrus aurantium (D) were used in mice and rats to evaluate the gastrointestinal function, immune regulation effects, hyperlipaemia-moderating effects and anti-oxidative effects. Three doses were 50mg/kg·bw,100 mg/kg·bw,200 mg/kg·bw. The main results were shown as follows:The gastric evacuation rate, gastrointestinal motility rate and absorption of xylose as the main facts were employed to evaluate the citrus peel extracts effects on gastrointestinal function in mice. The result showed that all of the extracts had none obvious effects on the gastrointestinal function; compared with the blank group, the high dose B, the low dose of C and D had significant effects on increasing the gastrointestinal motility rate of mice(p<0.01), All the A group, B low dose and C high dose could obviously promote the gastrointestinal motility rate of mice(p<0.05); All the citrus peel extracts could obviously promote the gastrointestinal motility rate of mice (p<0.05) which prohibited by atropine, Could obviously enhance the absorption function of gastrointestinal (p<0.01). It could draw a conclusion that the citrus peel extracts can improve the function of gastrointestinal motility.The indices of thymus and spleen, delayed-type hypersensitivity(DTH) induced by DNFB and loading swimming test as the main indices were used to evaluate the citrus peel extracts effects on immune regulation function in mice. The result showed:Compared with the model group, high dose of A and C,middle dose of D had significant effects on increasing the indices of thymus and spleen (p<0.01) in mice which immune function were weakened by Dexamethasone, middle dose of A and B, low and middle dose of C could obviously promote the indices of thymus and spleen (p<0.05); All the citrus peel extracts could significantly promote the level of DTH rate (p<0.01) in mice which immune function were weakened by Dexamethasone; middle and high dose of B, low dose of D could obviously promote the time of loading swimming in mice (p<0.05). It could draw a conclusion that the citrus peel extracts can improve the function of regulating immunity and Antifatigue Effect.The body weight, total serum cholesterol(TC)Concentration, serum triglycerides(TG) Concentration, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentration and atherosclerosis index(AI) as the main indices were used to evaluate the citrus peel extracts effects on regulating blood lipids in rats. The result showed:Compared with the model group, high dose of B, low and middle dose of C, and all doses of D had significant effects on decreasing the concentration of serum TC in rats (p<0.01), low dose of A could obviously decrease the concentration of serum TC in rats (p<0.05). All of the citrus peel extracts had significant effects on decreasing the serum TG and LDL-C concentration, AI in rats (p<0.01), and significant effects on increasing HDL-C concentration and AAI in rats (p<0.01). It could draw a conclusion that the citrus peel extracts can reduce the atherosclerosis risk and hyperlipidemia rate.The concentration of serum SOD and malondialdehyde (MDA) as the main indices were used to evaluate the citrus peel extracts effects on antioxidant activity in 15-months old mice. The result showed:Compared with the aged group, low dose of B, middle dose of A,C and D had significant effects on increasing the concentration of SOD in mice (p<0.01), low and high dose of A, middle and high dose of B, high dose of C and low dose of D could obviously promote the concentration of SOD in mice (p<0.05), middle and high dose of A, low and middle dose of C and D had significant effects on decreasing the concentration of MDA in mice (p<0.01), low dose of A, all groups of B, high dose of C and D could obviously reduce the concentration of MDA in mice (p<0.05). It could draw a conclusion that the citrus peel extracts have activity and indicate its Anti-Aging efficacy. From the research all above, It can draw a conclusion that citrus peel extracts which contained sugar, flavone, citrus oil, protain, organic acid, et al. It can improve intestinal function, regulate immunity and blood lipids, enhance antioxidant. |
