The paper analyzed detailedly the situation which was preparing the wood-ceramics and botanic-basic-ceramics by the wood, non-lumber. It was possibility that bio-ceramic can prepare with the cotton stalks. The powder of cotton stalks mixed phenolic resin, and then formed with hot-press. At last it was sintered in the vacuum.Effect of feedstock property, forming process, carbonization temperature, component ration on weight loss ration, volume shrinkage ration, mechanical properties, graphitization degree and so on of cotton stalks ceramics were analyzed. Compared with the poplar ceramics, the cotton stalks ceramic's characteristic of technology, product performance and application was studied.Thermogravimetric analysis of raw material showed cotton stalks were similar to the poplar in manufacturing conditions and weight loss rate of phenolic resin was less than cotton stalks. It was important for phenolic resin to prepare the botanic-basic-ceramics.It approved that bio-ceramic was prepared by powder of cotton stalks after the test of forming and sintering accomplished. Test showed sintering temperature was important factor for weight loss ration of cotton stalks ceramic. When temperature was higher, weight loss ration was lower. However, if the temperature got some degree, change of weight loss ration were decreased. In the same component ration, high temperature would reduce weight loss ration and increase volume shrinkage ration, true density. If phenolic resin was added at the same temperature, weight loss ration, true density of cotton stalks ceramics would be increase except volume shrinkage ration. Module of rupture of cotton stalks ceramics would be improve in adding more phenolic resin and higher temperature.X-ray diffraction spectrogram was analyzed. If the carbonization temperature and phenolic resin was increased, distance of graphite microcrystalline would decrease and the graphite extent would increase. The structure was more obviously. However, carbonization temperature'effection on the graphite extent of cotton stalks ceramics was less than phenolic resin.Using the natural plant materials especially straw corps, prepared environmental material was studied and adopted some new technology, parameters, basis analysis. It was reference and basis for the research and development of whole bio-ceramic.
