Centerless grinding is an important tool of modern grinding. It is widely used in the modern industrial production. The research on the workpiece forming of centerless grinding has an important meaning for the industrial production. This research was the minor study of the simulation project of workpiece forming of centerless grinder that was organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering of Jiangnan University and Koyo mechanical industries, its major content is the dynamic workpiece forming process of centerless grinding.In order to correct position error of the theoretical point and actual point of workpiece, guiding wheel and grinding wheel, a new method of correcting position error is presented in this paper, which is proved by the simulation.In the paper, the theoretical mathematical model of the grinding depth and grinding force during the centerless grinding in the rough grinding, fine grinding and buffing are proposed by building the centerless grinding system. The simulation curves of the grinding force of centerless grinding are performed through the simulation program, which is coincided with the experimental result.The dynamic model of centerless grinding, block diagram of centerless grinding system and the transfer function are proposed by the four-degree vibrational model. The stability condition and the dynamic stability diagram of centerless grinding process are performed by the analysis and simulation. If the grinding process is unstable, it can be improved by adjusting the geometric parameter and rotational speed of guiding wheel.The dynamic model of workpiece forming of centerless grinding are proposed in this paper. It is based on the static forming model and considers the dynamic factors of the centerless grinding. The simulation program is completed with Matlab6.5 and VB6.0, and the simulation curve of workpiece roundness error in the grinding process is performed. This model offers a theoretical underpinning to simulating the centerless grinding process comprehensively.
