Buliangou colliery is located in north part of Zhun Ge Er coalfield ,Erdous plateu coal-seam of north China strata. The F6201 face in Buliangou mine has three remarkable characteristics: shallow burial depth, extremely thick coal seam, fully-mechanized caving mining. In order to study the overlying strata movement regularity and strata pressure behavior law, this paper combines theoretical analysis and field measurements with numerical simulation to study it synthetically.Theoretical analysis:firstly finds the position of main roof in breaking zone, secondly uses the criterion for determining the key stratum to determine the numbers and the position of key stratums, then discriminants the complex effect of key stratum, finally based on the mechanical structure model for key blocks, stable zones of key blocks are divided , analyses the movement of key blocks and the breaking of overburden from theoretical aspects.Field measurements:through the collection ,reorganization and analysis of field datas, strata pressure behavior law of F6201 work-face is gradually found, which can be used to inverse the breaking regularity of overburden, finally compared with results of theoretical analysis, the breaking of overburden for F6201 work-face is confirmed further.Numerical simulation: on the basis of theoretical analysis and field measurements,by the use of UDEC software , the macroscopical breaking law of overburden for F6201 work-face is reappeared. Spatial-temporal relation with key stratums'breaking and the influence to topsoil layer'subsidence are simulated emphasisly, from which can deepen understanding and knowledge to the movement regularity of overlying strata.During the whole research, the threee methods are interrelation and mutual corresponded, finally the study concludes the law of strata pressure behavior with shallow seam, thick bedrock ,extremely thick coal seam, and fully-mechanized caving mining.
