Nowadays, with the gradually strict control of NOx exhaust, the method of Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction(SNCR)is generally adopted by the developed countries for NOx removal. SNCR technology has advantage of low investment, short period and moderate NOx removal efficiency, and it is attracting extensive attention for the small and medium utility boilers.In this paper, a simple combustion facility was simulated numerically with FLUENT code to investigate the process of coal combustion and NOx formation. Firstly, fluid flow was simulated in the combustion facility, and found a suitable temperature region for SNCR. Then, within proper temperature distribution, the NOx formation process was analyzed detailed. Finally, based on the gas component parameters of SNCR, NH3, as the reducing material, is jet in combustion facility within temperature window area. The influence of the temperature and ratio of NH3/NO on NOx removal efficiency was researched by the numerical simulating of SNCR process. Considering the NH3 leakage and environmental pollution, the reaction temperature should be set as 1200 K or so, and NH3/NO molar ratio was controlled between 1.0and 2.0. The simulation results are helpful for the optimization design of SNCR system.
