| In this study, the tribo-materials of UHMWPE/MoS2 and UHMWPE/graphite composites with different content were fabricated by means of heat compression molding. The friction and wear properties and effect of content of MoS2 and graphite were investigated on MRH-3 friction and wear instrument under dry friction condition. The worn surface of UHMWPE composites was examined on a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to study its wear mechanism. It was found that the friction and wear properties, temperature tolerance, coefficient of thermal conductivity of the composites were improved remarkably. The optimum proportion of MoS2 and graphite both was about 25% by weight. The wear mechanisms of pure UHMWPE were adhesive wear and fatigue wear. Characteristics of fatigue wear disappeared gradually with the increase of mass fraction of MoS2 and graphite, the main mechanisms were fatigue wear. This was supposed to be related to the enrichment and film-formation of the peeled off MoS2 on the worn surface of the composite block or the counterpart steel ring.It was found that the compressive stress at 2.5% strain of UHMWPE was reduced by filling of MoS2 and graphite. In addition, with the increase of mass fraction of MoS2 and graphite, the compressive strength didn't have same result as the compressive stress at 2.5% strain. The best proportion of MoS2 and graphite should be controlled in 15%-25%. |
