CNC technology is developing in high speed and high-precision as which is the key to the manufacturing technology. Traditional pulse or analog interfaces will not be able to meet the numerical control system communication requirements of high-speed and high-precision, and has become a major bottleneck of the high-end CNC system development. Therefore, to develop a digital communication interface between numerical control unit and servo devices is an urgent need. In addition, as the development of semiconductor industry and the multi-axis CNC machine tools, the numerical control technology urgently awaits to be solved the multi-axis synchronized coordination control problem. The fieldbus technology became a good choice of CNC digital communications interface development for its simple structure, easy maintenance, high reliability and easy to implement multi-channel synchronized control and many technical advantages.The major objective of this study is to develop high-speed digital communication interface between the embedded CNC system and servodrive by using the MECHATROLINK fieldbus technology. This technology can meet the CNC control requirements in high-speed and high precision, ensure real-time data transmission and reliability and achieve multi-axis synchronized control. This paper designed the MECHATROLINK bus interface module Combining with high-performance floating-point DSP (TMS320C6713) on the base of analysis of MECHATROLINK bus protocol and architecture of ASIC JL-098. This paper designed MECHATROLINK initialization process and user application program, include the station address settings, the calculation and choices of communication parameters, defining and addressing the address of JL-098 RAM and I/F register, data transfer mode, periodic data and aperiodic data transmission mechanism and the user application instruction execution sequence and so on. Finally a MECHATROLINK host interface testing platform is built to test. The test results show that the interface model designd in the project can accomplish MECHATROLINK communication. And it is successfully applied in SDS9-6CNCH2 CNC system after commissioning changes.
